At the Expo in Richmond, one of the leading trade fairs for the forestry industry in the United States, the Irish specialist manufacturer Combilift recently presented its new Container Log Loader CLL.
The concept and functionality of the Combi-CLL are based on the Combi-CSS (Container Slip Sheet), which is successfully used in numerous industries for the mechanized loading of long goods such as timber bundles or steel into containers. The CLL's operation is intended not only to reduce the risk of accidents for employees and product damage, but, according to the company, is also incredibly fast compared to other methods: a 40-foot container can reportedly be fully loaded in less than 6 minutes.

The electro-hydraulically driven Combi-CLL with a capacity of 30 t offers the same advantages in terms of speed and product integrity as the Combi-CSS.
It was developed to meet the needs of exporters of softwood and hardwood logs, which, due to their nature and shape, are much more difficult to handle than palletized or packaged products. The logs can be lifted individually and loaded into a robust, high-sided metal tray before the patented push-pull mechanism moves the tray into the container. A hydraulic flap then ensures that the logs remain in place inside the container as the tray is extended.
