Extinguishing gas minimizes damage

March 13, 2024

Fire extinguishing gases can combat fires in their early stages without leaving residues on buildings, electrical systems, or goods. Fire protection experts from Wagner recommend a system they have named "FirExting." Protected areas are flooded with extinguishing gas via a special pipe system.

If a fire is detected and the alarm is reported to the gas extinguishing system via the fire suppression control center, an initial visual and audible alarm is triggered. The FirExting gas extinguishing system then activates – subject to the set delay for a possible evacuation of the area.

The extinguishing gas is distributed evenly throughout the entire storage system, and the extinguishing agent concentration is then maintained for a defined period to ensure effectiveness. At LogiMAT, Wagner will present this special fire protection system for storage lift systems, paternoster racks, and shuttle storage. Extinguishing gases are electrically non-conductive and therefore pose no risk of short circuits.

The inert gases used in firefighting do not form chemical compounds with other substances, even at high temperatures, and therefore extinguish fires completely without leaving any residue. Since inert gases are a component of ambient air and are essentially inexhaustible, refilling the gas extinguishing tanks is quick and easy. This ensures their sustainable use. After the use of FirExting, warehouse operations can usually be resumed very quickly.

FirExting allows for a variable system configuration for one or more protected areas. This fire suppression system is primarily used in high-bay warehouses, hazardous materials storage facilities, data centers, control rooms, industrial plants, and production areas.
