Radar detectors have replaced the previously common, but often quickly damaged, induction loops on gates: In the event of a collision, the bottom door leaf module is immediately pushed out of its guides on both sides. A sensor signals this to the control system and stops the gate movement.
Machines are constantly sanding substrates, bonding foils, and gluing parquet. Not far from Lake Chiemsee, machines are printing and embossing laminate and designer flooring, and robotic arms are persistently loading finished products onto conveyor belts. The gates open tirelessly every 20 minutes, as shuttles transport finished flooring elements to the factory's logistics center.
Annette Krieger, responsible for facility management at Hamberger Industriewerke in Stephanskirchen, says: "This building used to be a pure logistics hall with an old door. Now, production is also taking place here. The door was slow and remained open for too long. It quickly became quite cold in the building." Efaflex doors have been proving their worth here since 2006.
"What matters most to us is the speed and workmanship of the doors," explains Annette Krieger. "At first glance, the manufacturer's doors expensive. (...) However in daily use, the price quickly becomes more reasonable ."
Warehouse and production areas are partially separated by EFA-STR high-speed roller doors with the EFA-ACS (Automatic Crash System) collision protection system. This protective device largely prevents costly damage to the door leaf if a forklift or other vehicle collides with the door.
After a crash, the door leaf and end plate are retracted into the guides at the push of a button. The door is ready for use again in a short time.
"Almost all gates have radar detectors monitoring the apron," explains Annette Krieger. They replaced the induction loops, which were damaged in the summer by the weight of forklifts and trucks on the asphalt, which was softened by the heat. "The radar detectors work flawlessly and are much more practical, also because they are mounted above the gates, where they are almost never subject to mechanical damage."
