Swiss Logistics Award 2025 in the final stretch
April 1, 2025

A dynamic micro-hub for Level 4 automated inner-city logistics from Loxo & Planzer, an EcoShip project for innovative assistance systems in shipping, and the "Galliker Academy World" are nominated for this year's Swiss Logistics Award, which will reach its finals on June 4 in Bern.
Planzer and LOXO are applying their industry expertise to the field with a self-driving pilot vehicle at Level 4 automation, meaning no human operator is required, in downtown Bern. With the "Planzer – Dynamic Micro-Hub with LOXO," they are testing highly automated driving for the distribution of parcels, taking sustainability to a new level.

The dynamic micro-hub supplies Kyburz delivery vehicles, used by Planzer's parcel division for local distribution in inner cities, with the goods needed for delivery orders. The mobile micro-hub has space for two swap boxes, developed specifically for this application by Planzer and Kyburz. The vehicle picks up supplies several times a day autonomously from Planzer's rail center on Murtenstrasse. This way, "Planzer's Dynamic Micro-Hub with LOXO" keeps the efficiency of sustainable delivery in the city center running smoothly. The goal is to validate the technology for a range of 65 km, says Lara Amini, Co-founder & Managing Director of LOXO, and then, starting in 2026, to scale it up to other cities with larger "Dynamic Micro-Hubs," each of which will then be equipped with three to four electric Kyburz vehicles to provide the "last kilometer" charging.
EcoShip project
The EcoShip project is implementing innovative assistance systems for professional shipping through the use of modern digitalization technologies. The goal is to increase safety while simultaneously making operations more efficient and sustainable.
For example, EcoLog, a modular data logger, was developed that is used in both newbuildings and historic ships like the DS URI from 1901. Thanks to IoT sensor nodes and cloud connectivity, project manager Nikolas Schaal explains, relevant data can be collected and processed. Another component of EcoShip is EcoLive, a big data dashboard that enables the analysis of weather conditions, passenger frequencies, current conditions, and physical ship data.
The biggest efficiency driver in this solution package is "EcoPilot": an AI- and ML-supported system that optimizes scheduled shipping services in terms of punctuality and fuel consumption. It integrates factors such as schedules, routes, slow-speed zones, vessel types, maneuvering conditions, and weather data. A capacity demand forecast calculates the expected frequencies and passenger numbers at the next stations and thus predicts the required stop time.
Launched in 2024, the EcoShip product line includes systems designed to deliver fuel savings of over 15%. The solution has been adopted internationally, with installations already completed in Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Gallikers Academy World
Logistics services provider Galliker will be consolidating its talent development and training capabilities under one attractive centralized roof. The "Galliker Academy World" is intended to become a hotspot with significant appeal for all professional sectors in the logistics industry, and, if possible, a think tank for forward-looking ideas.
A campus is being built at the headquarters in Altishofen that will bring together technology, innovation, and human potential. According to project manager Pirmin Trachsel, this will create a new era of education that leverages megatrends such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics as opportunities while simultaneously promoting individual development and creativity.
The opening of the Galliker Academy World is scheduled for autumn 2025.

A cool, central meeting point is home to state-of-the-art, flexibly designed training rooms for passionate, focused, and creative learning. The targeted use of AI-supported e-learning platforms, interactive whiteboards, and the Galliker Wiki knowledge platform enables customized training paths that adapt to the needs of learners and the modern world.
The apprentice workshops feature state-of-the-art equipment, models, systems, 3D printers, robotics systems, and digital tools, enabling practice-oriented learning and training. Under the guidance of experienced specialists, innovative projects are developed that combine theory and practice.

The 30th Swiss Logistics Awards ceremony will take place on June 4th at the Kursaal in Bern. Switzerland's most prestigious logistics award honors Swiss companies that boost their success with innovative, digital, and sustainable solutions. Furthermore, companies will be honored with the Lean & Green Award that evening for achieving their targets on the path to net zero by 2050 at the latest. The logistics and supply chain management industry will meet for networking at this festive and highly respected awards ceremony. The ceremony follows the GS1 Switzerland Excellence Day.
