With a groundbreaking ceremony and the laying of the foundation stone, Denner is celebrating the start of construction today for its new distribution center in Aclens. The site, which will employ around 130 people, is scheduled to open in 2027. The distribution center will supply 260 stores with 33 million packages per year.
Denner aims to meet increasing logistical demands with this expansion. With its current two fresh produce and three hardware distribution centers, Denner is increasingly reaching its capacity limits. Furthermore, the company headquarters states that increased traffic on major roads and the projected population growth in Switzerland necessitate these adjustments
Logistics solutions. The retail company (6,178 employees and CHF 3.9 billion in sales in 2023) is taking an important step into the future with the start of construction on its new hardware distribution center in Aclens (VD). The new location will contribute to strengthening Denner's logistics position.
The expansion ensures efficient delivery to western Switzerland. “The distribution center is a cornerstone for the economic future of the La Plaine industrial zone, promising to promote growth and solidify the region’s position on the industrial map of Switzerland”adds Sylvie Ciana, Mayor of Aclens. “With the new distribution center, we can continue to meet the increasing demand for hardware products, better connect western Switzerland thanks to the automated logistics system, and relieve the burden on the distribution center in Schmitten”says Logistics Manager Thomas Rossel.
On an area of 35,000 square meters, an automated high-bay warehouse with around 14,000 pallet spaces for 3300 hardware items, 42 truck ramps and a private rail connection are to be built; the building complex will be constructed according to Minergie standards and will include a photovoltaic system on the roof and/or on the facades.
