The Basel Logistics Cluster of the Basel Chamber of Commerce (HKBB), together with the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, industry associations, and infrastructure operators, has published a guide to sustainable logistics in the Basel region. Supply chain expert Daniel Bubendorf explains why such a guide is needed.

In an interview, independent expert Daniel E. Bubendorf explains what matters: reliable CO2data instead of empty phrases, quick levers in operations – and how logistics companies can transform from mere service providers into strategic partners of their customers.
A crucial factor
why sustainability in logistics is now a crucial business factor – and not "just" ethically relevant – by pointing out, among other things, that the market has changed. "Shipowners are under pressure to make their supply chains measurably more climate-friendly".

Logistics service providers who make a substantial contribution to this will become preferred partners: "They increase resilience, secure access to tenders and financing – and signal reliability in a demanding environment".
Signal reliability
Sustainability not only ensures short-term efficiency, but above all strengthens the resilience of supply chains and becomes a strategic success factor.
How can this become a competitive advantage? Bubendorf: "Tenders increasingly include clear sustainability criteria. Those who can demonstrably provide CO2 transparency, resource efficiency, and social standards significantly improve their chances".

Credibility is crucial: "Reliable data emissions and costs for customers reduce".
