The first edition of the Logistics Market Study 2026 impressively demonstrates that challenges are always also starting points for innovation. The focus is on developments that shape the Swiss logistics market in its entirety – from the increasing strain on key transport routes and structural changes in the logistics profession to technological transformations that will be crucial for the industry's future viability.
Market developments at a glance
The present study combines statistical market analyses with expert knowledge and practical assessments from companies. It thus offers not only a fact-based overview of current market developments, but also shows how logistics service providers, shippers, and political actors can respond to increasing complexity. The study examines both economic framework conditions and specific areas of action that are crucial for the further development of processes, technologies, and infrastructure.

The Swiss logistics data is collected through the triangulation of three independent methodological approaches. The range of results is intended to provide insight into the value spectrum within which the actual logistics market volume operates.
Previous years slightly corrected
Based on retrospective revisions to the official statistics database, a slight adjustment was made to the logistics market volume for the years 2020 to 2024. Traffic volumes for 2020 and 2021 increased slightly, while the figures for 2022 were revised slightly downwards. Only marginal adjustments were made to the employment statistics.

In contrast, the corrections to industry revenues were particularly striking. A significant decrease was recorded for the first pandemic year, 2020, while the three subsequent years, 2021, 2022, and 2023, saw substantial upward revisions.
This resulted in a slight increase in the overall logistics market volume for the years 2021 to 2023 and a marginal reduction for the year 2020.
