The first cable car cabins were manufactured in 1956 at the Upper Austrian body and cabin manufacturer Carvatech, thus establishing a successful product division. Now Doppelmayr has acquired the conveyor technology specialists from Oberwels.
Both parties have a long history of collaboration. Carvatech will continue to operate within the group as a separate brand. Carvatech products have already been successfully used in numerous Doppelmayr aerial tramways, funiculars, and single-cable gondola lifts. The merger, it is said, will elevate this collaboration to a new level. Like Carvatech, the Doppelmayr Group's subsidiary CWA also retained its independent brand. With the acquisition by Doppelmayr, Carvatech's search for a successor due to the retirement of its current owner has come to an end. Carvatech currently employs around 50 people.
Robert Vockenhuber and Reinhard Aschauer, the previous owners of Carvatech: “We proactively approached Doppelmayr because we believe that pooling our resources is a win for both sides.”.
As part of the search for a successor, it was a priority to hand the company over to capable hands. Vockenhuber and Aschauer: "We are convinced that we have succeeded in doing so.".
