IT specialist Kinexon offers measurement systems that capture and analyze athletes' movements, game patterns, and tactical behavior in real time. Continental recognized the potential for controlling transport robots and is acquiring the on-board operating system "Brain" along with its development team.
In the sports sector, collected data is displayed on social media channels, among other platforms, making performance more transparent than ever before. In selected disciplines, the ball is also tracked to further improve the understanding of game situations and provide comprehensive information. Continental aims to expand its development and systems expertise in the field of autonomous, mobile robots with its on-board operating system for precise and networked navigation.
The development team is moving from Kinexon to Continental as part of this process. Pierre Pomper, Head of Mobile Robots at Continental, says: “We can now offer our customers a first-class, operationally proven, and comprehensive solution. All from a single source.”
Both companies have agreed to maintain confidentiality regarding the purchase price and further details of the transaction. Kinexon intends to focus its robotics business on the rapidly growing area of central control systems for autonomous robots and to further develop its fleet management software. Continental offers its intelligent fleet management software as an optional component for controlling the AMRs.
In 2021, Continental announced its entry into the AMR market for intralogistics. Building on its experience in the automotive sector, the technology company has developed its own industrial solution that simplifies logistical workflows.

Following an internal testing phase at Continental's production sites worldwide, the AMRs are now available for external market launch with improved and new functions, as well as support for new use cases. A major advantage is their ease of implementation and smooth operation in both warehousing and production environments.
