As Switzerland's largest online retailer, Digitec Galaxus offers around seven million products, catering to almost everyone. The operations center in Wohlen is now being equipped with the "Skyfall" pocket sorter from Ferag – a real "booster," as they say.
Initial contact by the Digitec Galaxus project team at the LogiMAT trade fair in 2022 marked the beginning of the new partnership between the Swiss online retailer and the intralogistics specialist. Named "Super Booster" in reference to the significant performance increase, the project was implemented over a period of 1.5 years in close collaboration. The solution is truly impressive: conveying, buffering, sorting, and order picking are all functions that Digitec Galaxus will now perform with maximum throughput thanks to ferag.skyfall. At least 1.3 million packages will leave the warehouse every month starting in 2025.
According to both companies, integrating the ferag.skyfall pocket sorter into the existing, complex material flow systems in Wohlen presented a significant challenge, which was successfully overcome by both sides with extensive expertise. "A significant signal for Switzerland as a business location," says Ferag CEO Tommaso Ramundo.
Ferag, originally a company specializing in processing systems for print media, has long since expanded its portfolio to include the development, design, and distribution of material flow systems for a wide range of industrial applications. Software and automation solutions are developed in-house and implemented by Ferag's own teams.
