In mid-May, the first semi-automated pharmaceutical distribution center in the Middle East was awarded the LogiSYM Award 2024 in the field of warehouse automation at the Singapore Expo, with which SSI Schäfer enabled the construction of the IMDAD distribution center of Nahdi Medical Company in Jeddah.

SSI Schäfer is celebrating its 40th anniversary in the region. Carsten Spiegelberg, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, said: “It is a great honor to receive this prestigious award, which marks a significant milestone in our 40-year journey of innovation and excellence. It not only underscores our commitment to advancing intralogistics and warehouse automation but also recognizes our successful partnership with Nahdi Medical Company.” The award acknowledges not only SSI Schäfer’s achievements but also the two-year partnership with Nahdi Medical Company in the construction of the 250,000-square-meter, state-of-the-art facility, which has set new industry standards.

The IMDAD Distribution Center, with its semi-automated order processing systems, comprehensive data analysis, real-time inventory tracking, and temperature-controlled logistics, is a prime example of innovation.

According to the manufacturer, the facility has achieved a 98.5% increase in warehouse efficiency since its opening, significantly boosting capacity and competitive advantage in the region. The facility offers a maximum picking capacity of 100,000 items per day and manages more than 5,500 shipping containers to effectively handle the surge in online orders.

The LogiSYM Awards are now being presented for the 6th time and recognize outstanding achievements in the supply chain and logistics industry.
