Prevention is the best fire protection

August 29, 2024

Wagner Fire Protection Trade Fair SecurityFig.: Wagner

Detecting fires and identifying potential fire hazards early on: Wagner's aspirating smoke detectors pinpoint heat sources early, and oxygen reduction prevents fires. This is crucial for logistics, data centers, and archives – and one of the key topics at "Security 2024" in Essen.

Wagner promotes a hazard management system that integrates all manufacturer-independent technical security systems into a central system, effectively controlling the interaction and monitoring of all security-relevant systems in a building or property. The central operating and control unit records all events and messages from the building, communication, and security technology, as well as the IT infrastructure. In the event of an incident, it enables the targeted and rapid initiation of necessary measures.

From September 17th to 20th, Wagner will be presenting its active fire prevention system at the security trade fair in Essen. This system intervenes preventively before a fire even starts. The OxyReduct system offers optimal protection, particularly in enclosed storage rooms, archives, and data centers that are rarely accessed by people. By selectively introducing nitrogen, the oxygen level in the protected area is reduced, preventing fires from starting under defined conditions. The room remains accessible throughout. Experts configure these systems individually to address specific risks and protection objectives, ensuring maximum safety while maintaining operational processes.

In the event of a fire – because even in a protective atmosphere, smoldering fires, for example, can occur – every second counts. For the earliest possible fire detection, Wagner has developed the Titanus series of aspirating smoke detectors, which detect fires in their initial stages. With maximum false alarm protection and reliability, these detectors are also recommended for demanding environments. Thanks to their modular design and diverse accessories, they can be used in a variety of settings, from harsh industrial environments and rail vehicles to warehouses and archives with high storage density, as well as highly sensitive data centers and cleanrooms.

This time, special attention is being paid to the "Titanus Rack Sens," specifically designed for monitoring 19" server and control cabinets. The system enables highly sensitive early fire detection in confined spaces and features a combination of fire pattern recognition technology called Logic Sens, which identifies the signs of an impending fire early on and guarantees exceptionally high protection against false alarms. Up to five server cabinets can be monitored simultaneously with a single system. "Rack Sens" available with integrated or external extinguishing gas cylinders, allowing for immediate fire suppression measures in case of emergency.

Another key feature is the "FirExting" inert gas extinguishing system, which allows for residue-free extinguishing and prevents consequential damage. This is particularly interesting for use in data centers, as the solution avoids power outages in the event of an incident. This ensures that data availability is maintained. The ability to quickly refill the extinguishing agent containers after use ensures that processes can be resumed promptly.

Since 1976, the Wagner Group, which also has a headquarters in Switzerland, has established itself as an innovative solutions and systems provider with around 750 employees at 23 locations in 14 countries worldwide. More than 700 patents confirm the company's innovative strength.
