A highly automated shuttle system with 50 robots will play a central role in buffering production supplies at the BSH household appliance specialists in Dillingen, Bavaria. The TGW robots will handle the reliable storage and retrieval of components.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the shuttle warehouse recently took place in Dillingen. By spring 2027, TGW Logistics will have built a highly automated small parts warehouse that will reliably and quickly supply production with components. BSH Hausgeräte GmbH represents a portfolio of world-renowned home appliance brands, including Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau, and Neff. The company employs 60,000 people and generated sales of €14.8 billion in 2023. Around 1.9 million dishwashers rolled off the production line at the Dillingen plant in 2024: Founded in 1960, the site is one of the largest and most modern dishwasher factories in the world.
As part of a revised factory layout, the material flow is also being redesigned. A highly automated shuttle system plays a central role. The 50 shuttle vehicles handle the reliable storage and retrieval of the components.
Forward-looking
The forward-looking concept relies on a forklift-free environment in final assembly – thus paving the way for the use of automated guided vehicles (AGVs). "Automation, combined with optimal space utilization through five-deep storage in the shuttle, enables high efficiency," emphasizes Johann Steinkellner, CEO Customer Unit Central Europe at TGW Logistics. "We are delighted that we were able to convince BSH with our concept. This is already the second collaboration at the Dillingen site for TGW Logistics – and we are confident that more will follow."
