Setlog customs antics

Those who don't know what's going on in the minds of dictators and semi-criminal leaders need to be able to react quickly. Whether it's tariffs or extreme weather events, global supply chains can break down within days. Those who want to withstand these disruptions should invest in the digitalization of their supply chain.

A rapid implementation of the SCM software is essential, as is the ability to easily access other tools, such as quality control and real-time shipment tracking, through the system. Setlog addresses this need with its enhanced SCM software from the well-known OSCA series ("Online Supply Chain Accelerator"), an OSCA DC (Digital Core). The Bochum-based IT specialist will present its solution to shippers, freight forwarders, and other supply chain partners at transport logistics 2025 (June 2-5) at the Munich trade fair grounds. SCM experts will demonstrate how companies can gain transparency in their supply chain using the cloud-based tool, leverage modern data analytics, and improve management, collaboration, and communication. They will also show how TMS systems, partner tools from Shippeo and Intelliway for real-time shipment tracking, and companies like Qarma for quality control can be easily integrated with OSCA.

According to Setlog, implementing the latest OSCA software version takes only a few weeks, depending on requirements, in addition to the installation phase for interfaces and global partner connections. Companies such as Fynch Hatton, MTS, Simplicity, and Wenko have already benefited from this rapid implementation. Setlog Managing Director Ralf Düster explains that the Setlog team also involves all suppliers, freight forwarders, testing laboratories, and other partners in the implementation process. "We have set a benchmark in the industry," says the SCM expert. The secret behind the rapid implementation: Customer processes are adapted to OSCA's best-practice examples – not the other way around. This saves users time and money on customer-specific customizations.

Maintaining an overview digitally

OSCA has five main functionalities: Purchase Order Management, Global Logistics, Quality Control, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The solution is now used by approximately 150 brands worldwide. Its major advantage: users can eliminate media breaks with the modules. Standardized API interfaces enable data exchange between ERP, TMS, WMS, and other systems of various partners using OSCA, without redundancies or duplicate data entry. Many customers appreciate that the IT tool also provides greater transparency regarding CSR and ESG issues. Thanks to information on who produces which order, even the sub-tiers can be mapped and assigned to the respective order. For example, clothing importers gain better visibility all the way down to the farmer of a cotton plantation. "End-to-end visibility helps companies react quickly to changes in the supply chain and remain competitive. OSCA supports all partners along the supply chain in collaborating via a single platform," says Düster.

Customers also benefit from the software company's partnerships in the area of transport tracking. For example, they can use the "Real Time Transportation Visibility" module from various providers and track shipments in real time. Furthermore, they receive precise data on the estimated and actual arrival times of their shipments (Estimated Time of Arrival, ETA, and Actual Time of Arrival, ATA).

OSCA enables companies to connect with their suppliers and service providers to optimally coordinate their supply chain, accelerate processes, and manage supply chains efficiently. Setlog was founded in 2001 and is now one of the leading providers of SCM software, with over 40,000 users in 92 countries.
