The Nagel-Group, headquartered in Versmold and specializing in food logistics with a location in Thayngen (Schleswig-Holstein), most recently generated sales of around €2.1 billion with 11,500 employees. In Bochum, the company is now deploying a Scania 25P electric battery electric vehicle (BEV) on its routes.

The 18-ton refrigerated truck not only runs on electric power, but also cools its cargo with solar energygenerated on-site by a photovoltaic system. "The first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) truck in the company's history is a milestone for our fleet management," says Carsten Taucke, CEO of the Nagel-Group. "We are closely monitoring developments in alternative drive systems and supporting technological advancements with simulations and practical applications." Further projects are planned for next year. "We have already conducted extensive testing with various drive systems and manufacturers in the past, and we will launch up to ten pilot projects in 2023."

“We will test how we can best utilize the vehicle,” says Daniel Orzall, head of forwarding at the Nagel Group in the former mining metropolis. “Within its range of approximately 140 km, we will plan the first deliveries to supermarkets, hotels, and other recipients in the immediate vicinity.”

The Nagel Group transports food products of all shipment sizes and temperature classes - frozen products, meat, dairy products, coffee and confectionery.
