Kardex Mlog Würth Landquart

Kardex Mlog already commissioned two 22-meter-high storage and retrieval machines in Würth's high-bay warehouse at the Graubünden logistics center of the assembly and fastening specialists back in 2008. Now, the machines and system controls are being upgraded in Landquart.

The two ecoMAN RE-1200 storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) each have a load capacity of 1000 kg. A telescopic fork serves as the load handling device for single-deep storage and retrieval. The modernization of the machines includes reprofiling the guide rail, renewing the control and drive technology, and replacing the conductor rail. The project is scheduled to be carried out and completed within a very short timeframe, during ongoing operations, between October and December 2025.

The existing Siemens S7-315-2PN/DP controllers were discontinued in 2020 and replaced with S7-1515 F programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that are integrated into the system. Additionally, Siemens ET200SP decentralized input/output modules are being installed on the stacker cranes. These Profinet-compatible modules are used to acquire data from the lifting carriage sensors and forward all signals to the higher-level PLC.
To optimize the performance of the stacker cranes, the drive controllers are also being upgraded. The same applies to the associated, also discontinued, geared motors. By replacing the drive technology on both the travel and lifting mechanisms, as well as the telescopic forks, everything is being brought up to the latest technological standards.

Kardex Mlog, part of the Kardex Group, employs 353 people and generated approximately €113 million in revenue in 2023.
