Clear structure for AGVs

October 16, 2024

 Safelog Naming

The number and applications of mobile robots have increased significantly in recent years. Most are simply marketed as "Automated Guided Vehicles" According to the manufacturer Safelog, this no longer accurately reflects their range of applications. An "add-on" to the naming convention is intended to simplify matters.

Product categories are designed to make it easier for customers to quickly identify the devices that best suit their specific needs. The new names include specific attributes that clearly define the application and capabilities of the transport robots.

Each model variant is assigned a core characteristic and labeled with the attributes "tow" for towing vehicles with a coupling pin, "lift" for robots capable of lifting loads, and "spin" for devices with a rotary/lifting unit. The base vehicle is referred to as the "core".

Safelog AGV categories

“The clear assignment of individual devices to their respective areas of application will help our customers to make the right choice for their specific requirements,” explains Managing Director Mathias Behounek.

Furthermore, the strict classification of mobile robots into categories such as "AGV" or "AMR" is no longer up-to-date. "Our new names are intended to clarify that Safelog robots no longer require rigid definitions. They are as flexible and versatile as their tasks," Behounek continued.
