TGW Logistics will set up a shuttle system with 150,000 pallet spaces and double-deep storage for the healthcare provider Bausch + Lomb approximately 13 km southwest of Amsterdam. 300 robots will handle up to 8,700 containers per hour, storing and retrieving them.

In the packaging process, robots automatically erect and close the boxes. A reducer optimizes them to the required height, thus keeping the volume and shipping costs low.

The healthcare specialist, it is said, will benefit from the high-performance goods-to-person solution, including optimized service levels and reduced logistics costs, along with improved ergonomics for employees.
In 1853, JJ Bausch opened a small optician's shop in Rochester, New York. This laid the foundation for one of the oldest still-operating companies in the United States – and for a success story in the medical technology sector.

Leading manufacturer

Bausch + Lomb is today one of the leading manufacturers of technology-driven eye care products, including contact lenses, surgical instruments, and pharmaceuticals. The healthcare specialist operates in over 100 countries, employs approximately 13,500 people, and generated sales of US$4.8 billion in 2024.
