Flexible height access technology

September 30, 2025

Viastore is setting up a warehouse for cranes, inclined lifts, and rack and pinion technology with space for 7,500 pallets and 14,000 containers for Böcker in Werne. The client developed the first mobile crane in lightweight aluminum construction and launched the first aluminum trailer crane in 1997.

Böcker employs around 600 people. The family has been running the business for three generations. "People are at the heart of everything we do"says Managing Director Alexander Böcker, describing the company's philosophy. This attitude is also reflected in the new warehouse: The technology is designed to make employees' work easier while simultaneously increasing efficiency.

Viastore is installing two different storage solutions. Two Viaspeed storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) are being used for the automated small parts warehouse (AS/RS). They serve the 14,000 storage locations. The automated pallet warehouse is supplied by three Viapal SRMs. Two workstations are planned for the pallet warehouse, and five for the AS/RS. Expansion by four additional stations is possible.

The Viadat Warehouse Management System (WMS) is designed to manage both automated warehouses and five adjacent manual areas. The software controls all workflows from goods receipt to shipping and can be expanded as needed. Böcker is currently planning for 30 users.

The logistics facility is scheduled to go into operation in the summer of 2026. The scalable system can be expanded and adapted to changing requirements as needed.
