“Climate change is one of the most pressing problems of our time and (…) the switch to renewable energy sources for electricity supply is an important contribution to greater sustainability,” says CEO Lars Brzoska.

The first photovoltaic system has been operating of the plant in Moosburg, Bavaria, since mid-February is scheduled to be equipped with solar panels later this year . Projects at numerous other locations are currently being planned.

Approximately 69 percent of Jungheinrich's global CO2 emissions from electricity consumption previously came from Germany. By switching to renewable energy sources nationwide, the company is also reducing its global ecological footprint.

Engineers calculated that around 11 percent of the energy an electric forklift consumes over its life cycle is generated during manufacturing. As part of our 2025+ strategy, we are intensifying our activities to make supply chains more sustainable. This also includes energy purchasing," says Brzoska.

In December 2020, Jungheinrich joined the international campaign "50 Sustainability & Climate Leaders," an initiative of international corporations from various industries that want to play a leading role in climate protection and in achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
