Ocean Bridge monitors supply chains

DB Schenker is introducing a new supply chain monitoring system to offer ocean freight customers planning certainty down to the ship, shipment, and container level. On an interactive map, "Ocean Bridge" displays AI-based data on the departure, arrival, and docking times of ships, as well as their port rotations.
This complete transparency across the entire maritime transport process is designed to enable customers to optimize their supply chain. Unnecessary transport costs can be avoided by proactively adapting plans to changes and disruptions in real time.
An interactive map visualizes container information using telematics data and dynamic algorithms that incorporate AIS (Automatic Identification System) positions and extended details on port rotations. The user receives detailed information about the vessel's current location, as well as access to estimated handling times and port rotations once the shipment is at sea.

With complete visibility into estimated time of arrival and berth predictions, users can plan more effectively when disruptions are imminent. Additional costs that can arise from delays are minimized by effectively managing the risk of interruptions during transit.
Schenker's Head of Air and Sea Freight, Thorsten Meincke, says: "This AI-based tool represents a significant advancement in maritime logistics technology." Eva Grieser, Director of Data Management & Architecture, adds: "Ocean Bridge dynamically combines enhanced event chain data with artificial intelligence. This allows our customers to take preventative measures before challenges arise."
