The Nagel Group, based in Versmold, specializes in food logistics and also has a location in Thayngen (Schleswig-Holstein). With 11,500 employees, it recently generated revenues of around €2.1 billion. The company is now touring the Bochum plant with the 25P, an electric BEV from Scania.
The 18-ton truck with a refrigerated box is not only fully electric, but also cools its cargo with solar power generated on-site by a photovoltaic system. "The first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) truck in the company's history is a milestone for our fleet management," says Carsten Taucke, CEO of the Nagel Group. "We are closely monitoring developments in alternative drive systems and accompanying technological advances with simulations and practical applications." More projects are to follow in the coming year. "We have already conducted extensive testing with different drive systems and various manufacturers in the past, and we will be launching up to ten pilot projects in 2023."

"We will test how best to use the vehicle," says Daniel Orzall, Head of Freight Forwarding at the Nagel Group in the former mining metropolis. "Within the range of approximately 140 km, we will plan the first tours to supermarkets, hotels, and other recipients in the surrounding area."
The Nagel Group moves food in all shipment sizes and temperature classes – frozen products, meat, dairy products, coffee, and confectionery.
