Trade fair with a "both/and" theme
March 23, 2021

FachPack in Nuremberg has found a "clear answer" to the uncertainties surrounding the organization of trade fairs and industry events due to the coronavirus pandemic. The solution is "both/and": either a physical event with a prepared digital component, or a purely digital one.
For industry platforms, this means roughly the same thing as the "omnichannel" approach for intralogistics: Since online availability has to be regulated anyway and is now almost mandatory, the difference to a purely digital event is no longer as drastic as a total failure would be.
Greater certainty regarding the timing of FachPack 2021 means that the packaging trade fair will definitely take place from September 28 to 30, one way or another. "To be able to react quickly and flexibly depending on the pandemic situation, we have developed a two-pronged trade fair concept that gives our customers and us planning security for FachPack 2021," explains Heike Slotta, CEO of NürnbergMesse.

Specifically, this two-pronged approach : Platform 1 focuses on FachPack as a physical trade fair with a well-thought-out hygiene concept and offers a new digital supplement, enabling visitors affected by travel restrictions to participate. If the pandemic situation necessitates it, the organizers will switch to Platform 2 and offer the packaging industry a purely digital event with exciting new features. "This way, we are prepared for all eventualities and can guarantee the packaging industry its much-desired meeting place at the end of September," says Slotta.
Preparations for the trade fair are already underway. The FachPack team is currently preparing the physical trade fair "as usual," planning the exhibition halls with currently 860 registered companies , developing the supporting program, and creating a comprehensive hygiene concept .
In parallel, a digital platform called myFACHPACK will be launched, offering online matchmaking and networking even before the trade fair begins. Personalized contact suggestions will be provided based on exhibitor or product searches. Furthermore, the fair's lecture and supporting program will be live -streamed. Videos, chats, virtual meeting rooms, lectures , and presentations will enrich the offering .
The range extends from packaging materials and packaging aids, packaging and filling machines, labeling, marking and identification technology to machines, devices and components of the packaging peripherals, packaging printing and finishing, palletizing technology, intralogistics and related services.
