Jungheinrich has no reason to correct itself. The forklift manufacturer reported what it described as "business performance in line with expectations" in the first quarter. At the same time, the acquisition of ITS Forklifts in New Zealand marked its 41st direct sales company, based in Auckland.
Industrial Truck Sales New Zealand Forklifts (ITS Forklifts) will thus operate under the Hanseatic company's umbrella. The company, in turn, intends to distribute its entire portfolio through the existing ITS sales network and local partners in New Zealand. For Jungheinrich, the strategic acquisition of ITS Forklifts represents an expansion of its direct sales network in the Asia-Pacific region. ITS Forklifts has been Jungheinrich's exclusive partner in the region for more than 25 years.
ITS Forklifts, for its part, has established a strong position in the New Zealand market and boasts a well-established network of over ten partner dealers. Existing dealer relationships will be strengthened and further expanded with Jungheinrich.
At Jungheinrich itself, order intake, sales revenue, and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased year-on-year despite strained supply chains and bottlenecks in material supplies. The war against Ukraine, which Russia launched at the end of February, is leading to significant uncertainty for the European and global economy and thus also for Jungheinrich's business development. Against this backdrop, the forecast for 2022, adjusted to the circumstances, remains unchanged. In the first quarter, order intake increased slightly to €1.33 billion, and sales revenue rose by 10.7 percent to €1.06 billion.
