SSI Schäfer has achieved exemplary success in combining two warehouses into one compact building for the Belgian packaging specialist Ducaju. "Our new warehouse is only half the size of the old one. Nevertheless, we have increased our capacity by 84 percent," says Technical Manager Pieter Debucquoy.

Insights into Giebelstadt

Innovative technologies, live product demonstrations, and networking with experts and industry insiders were the focus of the customer event "SSI Insight"for which the intralogistics experts opened their doors in Giebelstadt on May 20 and 22. Around 150 international customers participated over the two days.
SSI Schäfer on the Mississippi

SSI Schäfer is setting up a new logistics center for Liebherr in Tupelo, Mississippi, encompassing warehousing, distribution, pre-assembly, customs and export processing for earthmoving, cranes, concrete technology, and components. At the heart of the facility is a seven-aisle high-bay warehouse with 39,700 pallet spaces.

The Swiss Intralogistics Association (ILS) held its annual general meeting in Langenthal in mid-May, with 82 members and guests in attendance, and reported a significant increase of 20 new members. Lea Lauffer was elected as the new vice president.

DHL procures robot army

The proven stretch robot from Boston Dynamics has been used by DHL for some time for the automated unloading of container cranes. Now DHL is paving the way for the procurement of 1,000 additional robots for picking cartons.
“Red line” at the Airport Center

The automotive parts supplier Metzger already operates a logistics center in the airport area near Stuttgart, featuring a manual shelving system, a manual pallet warehouse, and an AutoStore system with 30,000 bins. Now, a five-aisle high-bay warehouse and an AutoStore system with 80,000 bins from Kardex are being added.
ABB outsources robotics

ABB's robotics division currently employs around 7,000 people. In 2024, it generated sales of US$2.3 billion, contributing approximately 7 percent to the group's total revenue. The operating EBITA margin was 12.1 percent. Now, ABB plans to spin off the segment.
Access secured across the board

Whether gummy bears or mozzarella – food and chemicals are being packaged with ever greater ingenuity. "For packaging lines, this means that automation solutions must become more flexible," says Thomas Lichtenberger, Head of Sales at the vacuum technology supplier Schmalz in Glatten.
