The integration of automated Fenwick-Linde systems is contributing to the modernization of Airbus' new A320 Family assembly line in Toulouse. An R-Matic system is supporting better supply chain management, including the precise delivery of parts to assembly line operators.
The route leads through Fenwick-Linde, the French subsidiary of Linde Material Handling, and the partnership with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus. The A320 series aircraft are assembled in Toulouse. This was a good fit for automated logistics solutions at the Jean-Luc Lagardère site.
Fenwick-Linde, with the support of its regional dealer Bastide Manutention, has deployed a range of robotic solutions to help optimize the efficiency and safety of Airbus' logistics processes. These innovations include automated R-Matic reach trucks (AGVs), which ensure more reliable material flow and improved working conditions. "Our solutions help Airbus meet its demanding performance expectations," emphasizes Jérôme Garnier, Director of Sales and Marketing at Fenwick-Linde. "Our close collaboration with Airbus demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative, high-quality systems."
Gradual introduction
Just-in-time procurement helps prevent production interruptions and improve overall operational efficiency. Furthermore, AGVs autonomously handle supply and disposal at on-board workstations and inventory replenishment. This reduces repetitive manual tasks. Automated inventory and delivery management up to a height of 8 m significantly increases productivity at the site while also helping
to further improve employee ergonomics and safety.
The automation of logistics processes leads to improved operational profitability through lower warehousing and replenishment costs. Furthermore, automated solutions enable more efficient use of resources.

The ambitious project will be implemented in several phases over more than a year, depending on when Airbus opens each station. It got off to a successful start with the inauguration of the new A320 family assembly line in Toulouse, a symbolic moment. "The Fenwick-Linde teams are supporting and meeting Airbus's needs at every stage of this strategic project: from the solution design to commissioning, the necessary programming adjustments, and operational monitoring. Today, our solution is actively contributing to production at the site, and we are very proud of this ," explains Jérémy Chaput, Head of Rollout of the Intralogistics Project at Fenwick-Linde.
