The company aims for net-zero emissions from its own operations by 2030. Since 2018, the share of electricity from renewable sources has been steadily increased. Now, all of the company's facilities across Europe are powered entirely by green electricity. This five factories, 21 national marketing and sales companies, three main offices in Sweden, as well as numerous warehouses and workshops.
When the company began collecting sustainability data in 2012, it was found that CO2 emissions from electricity consumption accounted for a considerable 15 percent of total emissions. Switching to renewable electricity have a significant impact on the overall balance. Ernesto Domínguez, President and CEO of TMHE, stated: “ The switch to renewable energy is a concrete achievement that makes a measurable difference. (…) It helps ensure that we remain the preferred business partner for our customers, who are also pursuing the goal of zero emissions.”

The switch to renewable electricity is just one of more than 200 projects in which TMHE is currently investing to increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions. According to the company, these projects have reduced CO2 emissions by 29 percent since 2012. At the same time, an energy-saving program has 10 percent reduction in energy costs , thus contributing to both environmental and financial sustainability.
The factory in Mjölby, Sweden, was the industry's first CO2-neutral factory and has been powered by renewable electricity, district heating and liquid biogas since 2020.
