It looks almost like a hearing aid – but it's a special award from the Association of German Engineers. TGW was recently delighted to receive the prestigious innovation prize for its self-learning order picking robot Rovolution and its digital twin.

At its headquarters on Lake Lucerne, over 400 employees manufacture coffee machines for restaurants, hotels, coffee shop chains, and bakeries. The expansion of the fulfillment center in Weggis also includes preparations for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR). 

Cleaning robots have so far been primarily found in private homes. At the "Logistics&Automation" trade fair in Bern, the K900 was presented as an autonomous sweeper/vacuum cleaner that cleans large industrial and warehouse halls without water or chemicals. It recognizes its surroundings using lidar and 3D sensors.   

A cautionary tale against the transformation into a "paperless age"? The heaviest piece weighs 300 tons and appears to float weightlessly on the water. The staging on the lake stage, this time featuring "Madame Butterfly," is always a masterpiece of stagecraft, including elevators, cranes, and rope constructions.

Participants at an SVTL event at the Aarau warehouses had a good opportunity to learn about the possibilities offered in intralogistics by the use of so-called "exo" skeletons, based on an informative "live" demonstration.

An AI solution called OptiCarton is intended to optimize the filling volume of standardized cardboard boxes at DHL and improve the utilization of packing sets. The software should even be able to distribute orders across multiple shipments if this is more economical and reduces the carbon footprint.
