Thermoplan relies on TGW

At its headquarters on Lake Lucerne, over 400 employees manufacture coffee machines for restaurants, hotels, coffee shop chains, and bakeries. The expansion of the fulfillment center in Weggis also includes preparations for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR).
Founded in 1974, the family-owned company Thermoplan is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-quality fully automatic coffee machines. Its international customers include industry giants such as Nespresso and Starbucks.
With the "unique" project, Thermoplan is investing in its fifth plant in Weggis. The building, planned entirely digitally and certified according to LEED (Leadership Energy and Environmental Design) standards, comprises production and logistics areas as well as offices and forms the basis for development in the coming years.
Thermoplan has relied on TGW's intralogistics expertise since 2019: The two companies enjoy a close, collaborative partnership. In 2020, a four-aisle shuttle warehouse with more than 40,000 storage locations was commissioned in Weggis, where both components for assembling the fully automatic coffee machines and spare parts are stored.
The current expansion includes not only ergonomic and efficient order picking workstations but also the complete integration of Plant 5 into the existing infrastructure: This involves, among other things, expanding the KingDrive conveyor network and integrating the control system and software. The so-called "gates" are already being equipped with docking stations so that, in the next step, the assembly stations can be automatically supplied by Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).
