Cleaning robots have so far been primarily found in private homes. At the "Logistics&Automation" trade fair in Bern, the K900 was presented as an autonomous sweeper/vacuum cleaner that cleans large industrial and warehouse halls without water or chemicals. It recognizes its surroundings using lidar and 3D sensors.
The company Kemaro was founded in August 2016 by three engineers from Eastern Switzerland: Thomas Oberholzer, Armin Koller, and Martin Gadient. After launching the K800 (cleaning width 800 mm), the world's first autonomous dry cleaning robot for industrial use, the young entrepreneurs followed up in 2020 with the K900 (cleaning width 900 mm).
In addition to dry cleaning surfaces, the K900 could also be an interesting solution for reducing fine dust pollution in production facilities for logistics and industrial companies. A built-in M-class dust filter cleans 3.5 cubic meters of air per minute. With eleven hours of operation per day, this equates to the filtered air volume of an entire Olympic swimming pool. Or to put it another way: In 35 hours, the K900 filters the same amount of air as is consumed in beer at Oktoberfest – 7.3 million liters. The K900 thus makes a significant contribution to reducing fine dust in companies.
Cleaning schedules and other modes can be set using a companion app. Only emptying the dirt container remains to be done manually.
Not only is the product range expanding, but the company itself is growing, and in November 2019, the first employee was hired. Further successful funding rounds have allowed the workforce to grow even larger. At the headquarters in Eschlikon, Thurgau, 14 employees now work alongside the three founders. New sales representatives and distribution partners for the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) are constantly being acquired. Currently, the K900 is available in eleven countries.
