Swing door instead of high-speed door

August 26, 2022

It doesn't always have to be a complex mechanism or even an airlock. Swing doors impress with their functionality and low maintenance requirements. The gate and door manufacturer Hörmann has now acquired the swing door manufacturer Grothaus to expand its product range.

“With Grothaus’s expertise and commitment to quality on the one hand, and Hörmann’s experience and sales strength on the other, we look forward to a future full of exciting tasks and opportunities. We are delighted to expand our product range and grow in the coming years,” said Christoph Hörmann, personally liable partner of the Hörmann Group. Grothaus will continue to operate independently in the market and, with Hörmann’s support, will further expand its market position and product portfolio.
Hörmann has been offering sliding and high-speed doors for many years, which are often used in conjunction with swing doors in the same building. In the future, the manufacturer plans to expand its product range to include refrigerated and freezer doors, among other things, for the food industry.

Grothaus, a company with twelve employees, produces high-quality swing doors made of PE, PVC, wood, and stainless steel, as well as the corresponding frames, at its Melle site in the Osnabrück district. The previous owners, Sandra Dixius and Klaus Grothaus, will remain with the company, taking over management of internal sales and product development, respectively. "We are delighted that Hörmann was impressed by the quality of our swing doors and the expertise of our company. Together, we have excellent opportunities for national and international growth," said Sandra Dixius and Klaus Grothaus regarding the sale.
Effective September 1, 2022, Daniel Kurpiers will assume the role of Managing Director. Kurpiers has been with Hörmann for four years and was previously responsible for integrating the products of the acquired French company Maviflex and for developing the new storage systems product line. "I am very much looking forward to my new role at Grothaus. Working together with the employees, customers, and Hörmann's international sales force, we will jointly drive the company's further development and leverage synergies," said Daniel Kurpiers.

Founded in 1996, the family-owned company Grothaus, based in Melle, Lower Saxony, in the Osnabrück district, specializes in the production of high-quality swing doors made of PE, PVC, wood, and stainless steel, as well as the corresponding frames. Their products are used worldwide, primarily in the food industry, the pharmaceutical sector, supermarkets, cold storage and freezer rooms, hotels, and production facilities.
