Swiss Post strengthens cybersecurity
September 20, 2024

The cybersecurity company is called "Open Systems". However, the price that Swiss Post is willing to pay for the company, which has around 260 employees at its headquarters in Zurich, Bern, Düsseldorf and San Francisco, in order to strengthen its own IT security, remains confidential.
Open Systems secures companies' IT networks. With the expertise of this cybersecurity specialist, the postal service aims to offer even more secure communication solutions to government agencies and private companies, among others. However, the acquisition still requires approval from competition authorities. The takeover is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
Nicole Burth, member of the executive board and head of communications services, emphasizes: “Secure communication can only take place if senders, receivers, and communication channels are protected and efficiently designed. That is why it is important to further expand our cybersecurity solutions.”

In digital communication, the postal service focuses on three key areas: secure communication platforms for the secure exchange of information, secure and modern software solutions for private and public organizations that enable the digital connectivity of companies and authorities, and cybersecurity solutions for a secure digital environment. Open Systems protects the data transfer and networks of globally operating companies and NGOs with a specialized service concept and its own platform.
The cybersecurity firm was founded in 1990. The investment in Open Systems is intended to complement the existing offerings of the group company "Swiss Post Cybersecurity AG," which already protects data centers, cloud services, and end devices from unauthorized access with its cybersecurity solutions. This, it is said, will allow Swiss Post to offer government agencies, healthcare institutions, and private companies an even more effective and comprehensive range of trusted solutions.

Daniel Neuhaus, CEO of Open Systems: “We thoroughly examined who Open Systems’ future partner should be. (…) With Swiss Post, we have found a sustainable partner based in Switzerland that shares our values such as trust, reliability, security and customer focus.”
Open Systems – now owned by EQT – is a pioneer and one of the leading providers of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions. SASE is the convergence of network and security solutions on a cloud-native platform.
