Stadlerrail appoints new board members

At the railway manufacturer's annual general meeting in May, Christoph Franz and Wojciech Kostrzewa will not stand for re-election. Sabrina Soussan and Michael Schöllhorn, who are considered highly experienced in the fields of mobility and project management, are expected to succeed them.

Sabrina Soussan studied mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering and began her career in the mid- 1990s as an engineer in engine research and development at Renault. From 1997, she held various management positions internationally at Siemens, including Vice President for Regional Trains and then CEO of the Rail Vehicles business unit. From 2017 to 2020, she served as Co-CEO of the entire Siemens Mobility division.

Mechanical engineer

Sabrina Soussan is currently a member of the Shareholders' Committee at Henkel and of the Supervisory Board at Continental. There, she is the designated Chair of the Supervisory Board and is expected to assume the chairmanship at the end of April. Previously, the trained engineer was CEO and Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Suez, a global leader in water and recycling project management. " Her extensive expertise will further strengthen Stadler's innovative capacity and competitiveness " says Stadler's Chairman of the Board, Peter Spuhler.

Michael Schöllhorn has been CEO of Airbus Defence and Space since 2021 and is also considered experienced in international project management. He brings many years of industry and management experience to the Board of Directors, thereby strengthening the company's strategic direction. Previously, as COO, he led global manufacturing and quality at BSH Home Appliances, one of the world's leading providers of home appliances and an independent subsidiary within the Bosch Group.

International profile

Schöllhorn served on the Executive Board of BSH from 2015 to 2021. He studied mechanical engineering and earned his doctorate in control engineering from Helmut Schmidt University. With his international to provide important impetus for the further development of Stadler's global market presence on the Supervisory Board

According to Peter Spuhler, Christoph Franz and Wojciech Kostrzewa, who will be stepping down from the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting on May 5th at the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich, . After working for Lufthansa and Deutsche Bahn, Franz was elected to the Executive Board of Deutsche Bahn in 1999. In 2004, he became CEO of Swiss International Air Lines, and following a successful turnaround of Swiss, he served as Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa from 2011. has been leveraging on the Stadler Board of Directors since May 2011

With his many years of international management experience in the transport and industrial sectors, the industrial engineer has made significant contributions to Stadler. As former CEO of Lufthansa and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Roche Holding, he possesses in-depth knowledge of strategic corporate management and global networking. In the transport industry, Christoph Franz has played a key role in Stadler's international focus and innovative strength.

Wojciech Kostrzewa also intends to step down after many years of service on Stadler's supervisory board . Following his studies in law and economics, he served as an advisor to the Polish Minister of Finance until 1991, and as Chairman of the Board of the Polish Development Bank and mBank.

Numerous offices and positions

Since 2005, Kostrzewa has also been President and CEO of the large Polish media group ITI and chaired the supervisory board of the television broadcaster TVN. In 2019, he became President of the Polish Business Roundtable. He is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Alior Bank and Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ERGO Hestia.

Chairman of the Board Peter Spuhler acknowledged the long-standing service of the two departing board members. "I sincerely thank Christoph Franz and Wojciech Kostrzewa for their many years of dedication over the past 15 and 14 years, respectively. They have made a decisive contribution to the development and success of Stadler." He was particularly pleased about Christoph Franz's election to the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn (DB).
