Is there hope for better times? The Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) is once again holding its "Future Congress" digitally, conveying optimism about a "Silicon Economy Continuum." This will be accompanied by a new "sense of space and time," which will certainly have a logistical basis.
The digital “Future Congress Logistics – 40th Dortmund Talks”, organized by Fraunhofer IML and the Digital Hub Logistics, will take place digitally again from September 13th to 15th, 2022. Unsurprisingly, the agenda includes digitalization, open source, and sustainability.

"The future of logistics is digital, open and sustainable": Under this motto the participants want to discuss which innovations and strategic decisions are needed to get there .
The first day of the congress offers exciting discussions and keynote speeches from leading representatives from science and industry, including Steffen Bersch (SSI Schäfer), Jochen Thewes (DB Schenker), and Ralf Düster (Setlog). Key topics of the Future Plenary session on the first day include artificial intelligence and open source in the Silicon Economy, blockchain-based financial flows, and concepts for livable cities and regions.

The otherwise parallel, topic-specific sessions of the second day of the congress will again extend over two days due to the digital format and will take place consecutively, allowing interested participants to follow all presentations. Topics at the Fraunhofer Symposium include the digitalization of load carriers, data-based optimization, quiet logistics, and the possibilities of co-creation using digital platforms.
Between the presentations, researchers from Fraunhofer IML will demonstrate applications directly from their research as part of the "Digital Sandbox." Using prototypes, they will present numerous innovative technologies for the logistics of tomorrow.
