Fully electric in environmental applications
November 5, 2022

Every day he completes collection routes of between 150 and 180 km without needing to recharge. When Adrian Infanger returns from shorter trips, the remaining capacity of his Scania BEV is usually still over 50%. Now that's something!.
The environmental logistics provider Zimmermann, with locations in Alpnach Dorf, Altdorf, and its headquarters in Buochs, is broadly positioned in the areas of transport, recycling, its own collection points, dismantling, and civil engineering. Especially in the area of recycling, says company owner Reto Zimmermann, they are constantly searching for sustainable solutions in order to lead by example.
So, in the spring of 2022, he readily accepted Scania Switzerland's offer to thoroughly test a fully electric Scania bridge trailer with a tarpaulin and liftgate in real-world conditions, assessing its suitability for everyday use on his own transport jobs. For two days, the BEV Scania was driven on a wide variety of routes and its suitability was evaluated. The conclusion: In terms of performance, the electric version was on par with the diesel vehicle, only much quieter and more environmentally friendly.
Completely satisfied: Adrian Infanger
The vehicle has now been in everyday use for several weeks and, with its custom-designed tarpaulin, is also clearly serving as an advertising tool.
When asked about his BEV vehicle, chauffeur Adrian makes it clear that he would be reluctant to give up the 25P B 4x2. He says that the feedback from his customers motivates him to make even greater use of regenerative braking so that he can increase his range even further.
For owner Reto Zimmermann, the ecological advantages are obvious, as he leads by example for his customers, demonstrating that residual materials can be processed into valuable new materials through targeted recycling. The collected materials and residues are transported to the regional biogas plant in Alpnach, where they are used to produce pure biogas.
