Swiss Post is expanding near the border

Swiss Post continues its acquisition spree. The transport company Gaiser, based on the German-Swiss border (61 employees), has been part of Swiss Post since the beginning of the year. Likewise, the freight forwarding company Nolden from Kerpen-Türnich near Cologne, with 50 employees, was also acquired. Further developments are eagerly awaited.

Swiss Post is integrating the two companies into its existing German subsidiary Bächle in Villingen-Schwenningen. The reason for the further acquisitions is that companies such as online retailers expect a comprehensive logistics package: the postal service stores, clears customs, delivers or returns – often across borders.

To meet these demands, the postal service has been securing resources such as storage facilities, vehicles, and skilled personnel through targeted acquisitions for some time. The freight forwarding company Gaiser is headquartered in Rielasingen-Worblingen and has a Swiss branch in Ramsen (Canton Schaffhausen). Founded in 1964, the company primarily handles cross-border transport between Germany and Switzerland. The freight forwarding company Nolden, based in Kerpen-Türnich near Cologne, was founded in 1890 and offers transport services throughout Europe with a fleet of 60 vehicles.

Gaiser is located directly at the Swiss-German border crossing and specializes in customs clearance. The freight forwarding company Nolden, based in North Rhine-Westphalia on the route between Switzerland and the North Sea ports, has an extensive logistics network throughout Europe.

Johannes Cramer, Head of Logistics Services and member of the Executive Board of Swiss Post, is therefore convinced that the companies are an excellent fit for the Post's offering: "For many Swiss companies – from small to large – Germany is their most important trading partner. However, in order to ship their products to their customers quickly and easily, they rely on seamless supply chains in the background. We are strengthening precisely these supply chains through these two freight forwarding companies. This allows the companies to concentrate on their core business, while Swiss Post ensures that the goods arrive from A to B on time."

Bächle Logistics has been owned by Swiss Post since 2018. The companies Gaiser and Nolden will continue to operate as before with their customers. The employment contracts of the employees will also remain unchanged following the transfer to Bächle Logistics. Details of the planned acquisitions are confidential.
