With the optimization of existing drive systems, the testing of new drive technologies, and an 8 percent reduction in fuel consumption in the new engine generation, Scania continues to see itself as a leader in the heavy commercial vehicle sector in Switzerland. This will also include a significant number of battery-powered vehicles in 2022.

Following 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, Scania successfully defended its market leadership in Switzerland for the fifth time in 2022, despite ongoing supply chain challenges, with 733 newly registered commercial vehicles. The stated goal is to further expand its position as the most sustainable commercial vehicle provider.

With a total market of 2,929 commercial vehicles over 16 tons, the 733 Scania vehicles represent a market share of slightly more than 25%. This means that every fourth commercial vehicle over 16 tons registered in Switzerland bears the Scania logo on the front of the cab.

Francesco Romano, Managing Director at Scania Switzerland since March 2022, sees in particular the confirmed customer experiences with the reduced fuel consumption of the new engine generation as confirmation that a change of thinking has also taken place among Swiss transport companies.

Even Stephan Oberli, Scania's sales manager in Switzerland for the past year, didn't expect this success. Unusually long delivery times and repeated postponements of promised delivery dates had repeatedly strained the already high customer expectations of Scania.

Scania is also proud of the Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) for national long-haul transport, launched in early June 2022, which represent another milestone in the history of fully electric heavy commercial vehicles at Scania. "Here, too, we would like to express our sincere thanks to our Swiss customers, as some of them have already placed orders, demonstrating their renewed trust in the Scania brand without ever having driven the vehicle." Now that's what I call trust in the brand!.
