90 percent electric by 2028
WAGNER Switzerland AG
90 percent electric by 2028
November 12, 2024

Schneider Environmental Services in Volketswil has 140 heavy commercial vehicles registered. To achieve a 90 percent electric vehicle conversion rate by 2028, they already have seven battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in operation. Their own e-charging park, with 800 kW capacity and 16 charging points, has now gone into operation.
To cover its own energy needs in the future, the company has been installing photovoltaic systems on all its roofs for several years. At the Volketswil Hard North site alone, a roof area of 1,166 m² was covered with a total of 685 modules, generating 256 kWp. This produces approximately 248,444 kWh of electricity per year. Directly opposite, at Volketswil Hard South, a roof area of 6,421 m² was fitted with a total of 3,776 photovoltaic modules, resulting in a system size of 1,416 kWp and a planned annual electricity production of 1,416,000 kWh.

To be able to use this generated energy in the future with its own passenger cars and light and heavy commercial vehicles, the next step involved the construction of an electric vehicle charging park at the company's headquarters in close cooperation with Scania Switzerland. This resulted in a decentralized Kempower satellite charging system with two 400 kW power units, each equipped with four satellites and two charging cables. Each of the 16 charging points has a maximum charging capacity of 160 kW. Should all charging points be in use simultaneously, the required charging capacity is distributed, ensuring that 50 kW is always available per charging cable.

This year, further e-charging parks are to be set up and put into operation at the recycling sites in Perlen and Chrüzegg, and next year at the recycling centers in Regensdorf and Adliswil.
