Tour of Austria cycling race, is deploying a fully electric truck. The Mercedes eActros 600 is part of a new fleet of electric trucks with which the company is gradually decarbonizing its transport operations in Austria.

“ The Tour is a stage for top sporting performances – and for innovative logistics. The use of the electric truck is a concrete contribution to the climate-friendly future of our industry ” says Klaus Bannwarth, branch manager in Wels at Gebrüder Weiss. In addition, the company is using four trucks powered by the alternative fuel HVO 100, which emits up to 90 percent less CO₂ than diesel, as part of its tour logistics.

Since 2018, Gebrüder Weiss has supported the race with its logistical infrastructure – from setting up the course to transporting materials across Austria. " We ensure that everything runs smoothly – and increasingly with fewer emissions. Sustainability has long been part of our core business " says Bannwarth.
As a visible sign of the partnership with the Tour, the best Austrian rider will once again wear the Gebrüder Weiss jersey this year.
