Krones, a specialist in the production, bottling, and packaging of beverages, is increasingly focusing on technologies for the production of new foods, meat substitutes, and protein sources in light of the upcoming Anuga FoodTec 2024 trade fair in Cologne (March 19-22). The Swiss start-up Food Brewer is providing valuable input.

The supplier of innovative conveyor systems Avancon announces an order from a renowned pharmaceutical wholesaler from South Korea for a second logistics center with approximately 1800 m of Avancon ZPC roller conveyors, 70 roller curves and 100 OTU tables (Omni-Directional Transfer Units).

The conveyor technology specialists from Hinwil, in addition to their focus on intralogistics, continue to invest in the future-proofing of solutions within the graphic arts industry. The automation experts from Leipzig contribute additional expertise in robotics and digitized processes. Everything works together seamlessly.

As Switzerland's largest online retailer, Digitec Galaxus offers around seven million products, catering to almost everyone. The operations center in Wohlen is now being equipped with the "Skyfall" pocket sorter from Ferag – a real "booster," as they say. 

“Time Gate” at the Matterhorn

Doppelmayr, in partnership with Garaventa, completed 32 cable car projects in the Alps in 2023, nine of which were in Switzerland, and 26 of these special transport technologies in North America. One of the most striking is the new Zermatt–Furi aerial tramway, which offers a view of the Matterhorn as if through a time portal.

Sensitive shipping materials should not be handled like bulk goods. Ferag has further developed its "Denisort" tilting tray sorter. Recent improvements now allow it to handle weights of up to 30 kg and, thanks to the tray design with plastic flaps, operate more quietly.  

Intralogistics specialist Ferag has published a "White Paper" on innovative solutions in the textile industry, entitled "In Pursuit of Sustainable Margins" (German: Auf der Suche nach nach nachhaltigen Margins), which aims to address new challenges in the fast-paced fashion industry.

The global demand for copper is rising along with the demand for lithium-ion batteries. A mine in Quellaveco, Peru, is expected to produce 1.1 million tons of copper in the future. A ship loading system from FAM, a member of the Beumer Group, uses an extraction system to prevent dust from escaping during loading at the port.

Manufacturing processes in micromechanics, electronic and optical devices, as well as batteries and fuel cells, are sensitive. Even the smallest particles of dirt can lead to costly defects. The conveyor technology specialist "mk" has mastered cleanroom solutions and offers pristine "mini-environments". 

Light curtains and laser scanners are used where grids or partitions obstruct the flow of materials .On conveyor lines, transfers with a "muting" bridged i.e., silenced. Safe algorithms are better, says sensor manufacturer Sick, and offers intelligent Safe Portal systems.

IT specialist Kinexon offers measurement systems that capture and analyze athletes' movements, game patterns, and tactical behavior in real time. Continental recognized the potential for controlling transport robots and is acquiring the on-board operating system "Brain" along with its development team. 

By introducing a driverless transport system with multiple vehicles(AGVs) from Safelog, the full-service logistics provider Roman Mayer increased productivity at its fulfillment site in Nuremberg by 30%.

 At Flexen

Flexen refers to working with an angle grinder. It's also a mountain in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg – and on the Flexen Pass, the Rhine-Danube watershed, Doppelmayr's first ski lift went into operation in Zürs am Arlberg in 1937. The 130th anniversary of the cable ski lift was recently celebrated in a festival tent in Wolfurt.

At LogiMAT, Gilgen Logistics its latest generation of storage and retrieval machines for pallets and containers already presented. They are faster, more space-saving, safer, more sustainable, and more economical. The first units have already been commissioned at customer sites, such as recently at Erowa in Büron.
